CIC with LoFric

Clean Intermittent Self-Catheterization

We all need to empty our bladders a few times each day. Most of us pee the normal way, while others use a catheter to empty their bladders. Urine is a kind of refuse, a waste product from when we eat and drink. Urine is gathered in the bladder and our bodies need to get rid of waste, one way or another. That is why we empty our bladders.

This is how you do it

LoFric is a catheter that is used to empty your bladder. The method of emptying your bladder is called Clean Intermittent Catheterization, CIC.

Clean means that the process is clean. In other words as bacteria-free as possible.
Intermittent means every once in a while. In other words emptying your bladder a few times during the course of the day.
Catheterization describes the method itself. In other words, by using a catheter.

And this is how it works:

Insert the LoFric catheter into your urethra and up to the bladder. When your urine starts to flow, push the catheter in a little bit further. Hold the catheter in place until the urine has stopped flowing. Remove the catheter by pulling it out slowly.
