Both men and women can be afflicted wth an overactive bladder. The bladder, which is a muscle, contracts uncontrollably and sends signals to the brain that it needs to be emptied, even though that is not the case. These signals are hard to ignore and a person with this problem will be constantly going to the toilet, even if his/her bladder is not full.
