The LoFric catheter

Not being able to empty your bladder in a natural way is of course a problem. You need to find the best solution possible. For many people, LoFric catheters means assurance, security and improved quality of life.

A slippery surface layer

LoFric, a longed-for product

LoFric's unique strength and advantage is that it has a surface layer that can bind and retain a large quantity of water.

By soaking the catheter in water before using it, water is collected on its surface. This allows it to slide smoothly and easily into the urethra.

LoFric's slippery surface remains slippery during the entire emptying process ensuring that no damage is done to your urethra.

A new kind of catheter

The method of emptying your bladder by using a catheter has been around for hundreds, actually thousands, of years.

Before LoFric was introduced on the market, only plastic catheters without coating were available. Instead, different types of lubricants were applied to the catheter's surface to protect the urethra during catheterization. However, these lubricants didn't reduce friction and the gel tended to disappear from the surface of the catheter when it was inserted.

In order to reduce friction, the hydrophilic catheter LoFric was developed in the early 1980's. This represented a great step forward. Today, LoFric is the most well-documented hydrophilic catheter and has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of complications, both in short-term and long-term use.
